A man has died on the A13 after a hit and run incident on the westbound carriageway on the Lodge Avenue Flyover.

Police were called at 03.50 in the early hours of this morning to reports of a seriously injured man in the road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Met Police say following enquires a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The A13 was shut this morning due to the emergency services incident at the Lodge Avenue Flyover in Dagenham on the A13 Westbound carriageway.

Highways England issued a warning to those travelling from the M25 in Essex into London via the A13.

They tweeted: “Please be aware of this incident if travelling into London on the A13 from the M25.”
