A woman has appeared in court charged with terror offences over an alleged plot to bomb St Paul's Cathedral.

Safiyya Amira Shaikh, 26, from Hayes in Middlesex, is accused over a plot targeting the cathedral and a London hotel.

She is facing seven charges, including contacting a person who she believed could assist her in preparing bombs and researching and choosing methods to carry out an attack.

She is also accused of using the Telegram messaging app and other channels to share terrorist publications.

She was remanded in custody after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 1 November.
